Awareness Program on Organ Donation by MOHAN Foundation at Surendra Nagar Higher Secondary School, Hazamara , West Tripura

  • On May 13, 2026, an awareness program on organ donation was organized at Surendra Nagar Higher Secondary School, Hazamara, West Tripura. The primary objective of the program was to educate students and teaching staff on the profound significance and life-saving impact of organ donation. The session was specifically conducted for students of Classes X to XII, as well as the teachers. Mr. Sushanto Das coordinated with MOHAN Foundation, Tripura, to facilitate the event.

     

    Ms. Nipa Modak (Program Executive) represented MOHAN Foundation and conducted an inspiring session among students on the importance of organ donation, effectively dispelling common myths and encouraging their participation.

     

    Ms. Nipa Modak delivered a detailed talk on organ donation. She introduced MOHAN Foundation and shared insights into its mission and initiatives. She explained the meaning and importance of organ donation, types of donors, organs and tissues that can be donated, brain death and coma, and also elaborated on corneal donation. She further highlighted the provisions of the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act, 1994 passed by the Government of India. Participants were also provided with informational leaflets on organ donation.

     

    A total of 73 students participated in the program. This awareness campaign represented a significant step in promoting a life-saving cause and instilling compassion and civic responsibility among the youth. The session successfully engaged participants and laid a strong foundation for future organ donation advocacy in the community.
