Awareness Program on Organ Donation and Transplantation at Chantaibari Higher Secondary School, West Tripura

  • On May 15 2026, an awareness program on organ donation and transplantation was successfully conducted at Chantaibari Higher Secondary School, West Tripura.

     

    Mr. Vincent Debbarma, Project lead, MOHAN Foundation, Tripura, conducted the talk. He was accompanied by Mr. Biswajit Debbarma, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Tripura.

    The objective of the session was to provide basic knowledge on organ donation and transplantation, while also clarifying common myths and misconceptions surrounding the subject.

     

    The program began with a warm welcome and introductory speech by the Headmaster, Mr. Chitta Debbarma. In his address, he welcomed the MOHAN Foundation team and expressed appreciation for organizing such an important awareness initiative for the students. His introductory remarks set a positive tone for the session and encouraged the students to participate actively and listen attentively.

     

    Following the introduction, Mr. Vincent Debbarma briefed the participants about MOHAN Foundation and its contribution to the field of organ donation awareness. He explained the organization’s mission of promoting life-saving organ and tissue donation and its efforts in building awareness among communities, schools, and health institutions.

     

    He explained the meaning of organ donation and emphasized its importance in saving the lives of people suffering from organ failure. He also discussed the different types of organ donation, including living donation and deceased donation. The concept of transplantation was explained in a simple and student-friendly manner so that the young participants could understand how donated organs help patients in need of life-saving treatment.

     

    Mr. Debbarma further elaborated on the organs and tissues that can be donated and highlighted the role of organ transplantation in modern medicine. He also addressed several doubts raised by the students, helping to remove confusion and fear related to the subject. The discussion also focused on the importance of making informed decisions, sharing the message with family members, and encouraging others to support the noble cause of organ donation.

     

    The awareness program was highly interactive and informative. Although the number of participants was not too large, the smaller number allowed for meaningful engagement and discussion. The students showed interest in the topic and actively listened to the speakers.

     

    In conclusion, the awareness program at Chantaibari Higher Secondary School was a successful and meaningful initiative. The session was attended by about 17 students, making it an interactive and focused program.
