On May 12, 2026, MOHAN Foundation organized an awareness program on organ donation at Mandwi English Higher Secondary School, West Tripura. The program aimed to create awareness among students regarding the importance of organ donation, the need for transplantation, and the role individuals can play in saving lives through organ donation.
Mr. Vincent Debbarma, Project Lead, Tripura, represented MOHAN Foundation and led the session.
The program began with a brief introduction highlighting the significance of spreading awareness on organ donation and encouraging young people to become informed advocates for the cause. Students from class VII to class XII, the Assistant Headmaster, and 3 other teachers were part of the program.
During the session, the participants were informed about different types of organ donation, including living and deceased donation, and the organs and tissues that can be donated. The discussion also focused on the increasing need for organ donors in India and how one donor can save multiple lives. Common myths and misconceptions related to organ donation were addressed, helping the students gain a clearer understanding of the process and importance of donation.
Interactive discussions were held throughout the program, where students actively participated by asking questions and sharing their thoughts on the topic. The session also emphasized the importance of communicating one’s decision about organ donation with family members and promoting awareness within the community. Informational leaflets on organ donation were distributed to all the participants to enhance their understanding of the concept.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks to the school authorities, teachers, and students for their active participation and support in making the awareness program successful. Approximately 160 students, along with 4 teachers, participated in the awareness session.
