‘Angels of Change’ a Volunteer Training at Chennai – Day 1.

  • MOHAN Foundation has organised a Volunteer Training in the month of  June 2017 called “Angels of Change” at Chennai office.  The first batch of Angels comprised of 15 students from Tagore Medical College & Hospital and their teacher, a lawyer from Madras High Court and a family whose elder daughter wants to do a project on organ donation in her school, so the whole family joined the program.

    Day 1. (3rd June 2017):

    Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Quality Assurance Officer of MOHAN Foundation welcomed the volunteers and gave a short introduction about the “Angels of Change” program.  Mrs. Lalitha Raguram, Country Director of MOHAN Foundation introduced herself to the participants and started giving a speech about working with MOHAN Foundation and the staff. Dr. Sumana Navin, Course Director of MOHAN Foundation recalled her college days in medical college and took the volunteers through the journey of MOHAN Foundation which started on 1997. Everyone was touched by the hard work put in by the pioneers of Organ Donation. She also explained the highlights of training programs for Transplant coordinators.

    Participants introduced themselves as an ice breaking session. The first session on Concepts of Organ Donation was taken by Mr.  Siva Shankar,  Helpline and Marketing Executive. He explained about what, when, who, how and why of organ donation. There was discussion on the content of the presentation and how it can be modified for different audiences. The presentation went on for 20 minutes and followed by 10 minutes Q & A session.

    The next session was on Planning A Public Awareness Campaign. Dr. Hemal Kanvinde gave a short introduction on the different ways to create a campaign and the importance of understanding the audience and the best use of time available to create a maximum impact.  The participants were divided into four groups  (Immortals, Sparsh, Seekers and Diyas).  Each group had to discuss and plan a campaign on Organ Donation.  After more than an hour of discussion, the groups presented their plan and these plans were discussed in great details and fine tuned to get maximum impact.

    MOHAN Foundation appreciated the effort of the volunteers and their accompanying teacher Dr. Shree for her inputs in the training.  The next session shall be 10th June 2017.
