Mr. Vejay Mehta of Ranka Jain Foundation held a one hour event on 26th February 2020 at Indo-Asian college, Bengaluru where a talk was held about the Organ Donation.
Attended by 250 students, this event was a first of its kind at their college. Students were surprised by the need v/s availability of the organs in India. The concept of brain death was entirely new to them. Many of them came to know of the facts for the first time, like skin can be donated and cornea is a tissue and the fact that entire eye balls are not removed just the top layer during eye donation.
The legality of family decision and religious bias was bought out during the awareness session. Overall, there was an internalization of organ donation concept with the students!!
