An interactive session on organ donation conducted for the Police Personnel in Bengaluru

  • On 28th April 2022, MOHAN Foundation conducted an interactive session on organ donation and transplantation in Bengaluru. Mr. Sandeep inspector of Hanumanthanagar Police station, was instrumental in conducting the session and Mrs.Ranjini Shankar was the resource person  

    Mrs. Ranjini Shankar addressed the audience and introduced MOHAN Foundation, its mission and vision. She then asked the participants a few introductory questions on organ donation to have an understanding of their knowledge quotient regarding the subject she elucidated the need to promote organ donation in the country.

    The following topics were discussed in detail:

    • The concept of organ and tissue Donation and transplantation
    • The types of death i.e., circulatory death and brain death
    • Brain death declaration, other clinical tests
    • Procedure of deceased and live organ donation
    • Procedures of eye, skin and bone donation
    • Barriers to organ donation
    • Myths and facts related to organ donation
    • Green corridor
    • The role of Jeevasarthakathe
    • Transplant Law
    • Importance of a donor card 

    The Police Personnel were engaged throughout the session and thanked Mrs.  Ranjini Shankar for an informative session and pledged their organs

    Close to 55 officers attended the session.
