  On 22^nd May 2023, Mrs. Praveen Mahajan, Ambassador, MOHAN Foundation and Resource person of HP Red Cross organized awareness talk on Organ Donation for the Members & Students of Shakuntala Devi Foundation.

  Shakunatala Devi Foundation is a Chandigarh based non-profit organization. It is a family run trust working for the empowerment of women. They believe in imparting skills to women so that they become financially independent. The organization is committed for Social Welfare programs, working for women empowerment.

  At the beginning of the session, Ambassador Mrs. Praveen Mahajan welcomed all the participants.

  In this talk, she explained the following points: -

  • Organ donation and its need
  • When and how does organ donation take place
  • Organs that can be donated during life and after death
  • The transplant waiting list in India
  • Brain death
  • Difference between brain death and coma
  • Contraindications to organ donation
  • Transplant Law
  • Role of MOHAN Foundation
  • Organ donation Myths and Facts
  • Eye Donation

   

  At the end, She distributed Green Ribbons to promote Organ Donation. Participants also made ''Posters on Organ Donation'' in local language Punjabi to promote Organ Donation. Mrs. Praveen Mahajan gave the vote of thanks. The entire group got motivated and convinced to support organ donation. 20 of them pledged for Organ Donation and expressed their views on organ donation.
