Updated on Saturday, July 30, 2022
  • A conclusion of a survey done on the law students to understand their attitude and knowledge regarding organ donation, was that there is a huge lack of awareness about brain stem death among students and youth as a whole. In order to educate the students an online awareness campaign was designed by intern, Ms. Lakshya Leo G  and was run on her Instagram account  between July 24-28, 2022.

As a part of the campaign, 4 posters regarding brain stem death were designed. Three posters contained questions each and were posted as a poll question on Instagram, one each day. On the final day, the right answers and the right information regarding brain death was posted on Instagram.

For the first question of what the respondents think is the proof of life, it was seen that the majority (56%) thought that the beating of the heart is enough proof that a person is still alive.

On the second day, for the question asking if they think that the heart could still stay beating even after the death of the brain, 76% of the respondents said yes.

The third question asked if the respondents thought that brain stem death is just a medical term of coma, 71% answered affirmatively.

On the final day a picture containing the right information was posted along with the picture depicting brain stem death created by MOHAN Foundation. This story reached a view count of 111 and 95 respectively. And thus the online campaign was concluded.
