A quiz and talk for students to celebrate National Organ Donation Day

  • On 27th November 2014 the National Organ Donation Day , MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness session for the students of  XI and XII standard of Anna Adarsh Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Anna Nagar, Chennai. Ms. Radhika a senior teacher of commerce, helped in arranging the session and motivated the students for the same. The session was conducted in the seminar hall of the school.

     

     There were two sessions organized separately for the XI and XII students. Around 200 students participated in the programme. Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, Quality Assurance Officer  and Ms. Kavitha, Marketing Coordinator represented MOHAN Foundation. The session started with welcome address delivered by Ms. Latha, Vice Principal, of the school.  Ms. Kavitha. S delivered a talk on Organ Donation.  In her talk she explained the following:

    • Healthy and safe lifestyle
    • Importance and need of organ donation
    • Transplant Coordinator Training Programme
    • Types of donations – live and deceased donation
    • Difference between Natural Death, Coma and Brain Death
    • Organs and tissues  that can be donated in cardiac death and brain death
    • Eye donation
    • Importance of Donor card, helpline number and website

     

    After the presentation, a quiz competition was conducted for the both batches. Students participated very actively and  thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  Informative brochure was distributed to everyone. It was announced that the winners will be awarded on 1st December 2014, when the school has a big program on the eve of AIDS Awareness day celebration.
