A lively session on Organ Donation at a Chennai Corporation School, Chintadripet

  • On 5th December 2014, an awareness programme was organised by Chintadripet Boys Higher Secondary School. They invited MOHAN Foundation to give a talk on organ donation. Mr. Jeyabal and Ms. Kavitha Transplant coordinators represented MOHAN Foundation. This programme was initiated by Ms. Suseela, Member of Brahma Kumaris Association. Two interns from Madras Christian College also participated the session.

     

    Ms. Kavitha delivered the session to the young and energetic boys of Class 9 to 12. She explained the Concepts of Organ donation, difference between the brain death and coma, eye donation, what organs can be donated and  the value of a Donor card. More than 100 students benefitted from the session.  Principal of the school, Mr. Srinivasan and two other teachers also attended the session.

     

    After the formal lecture, Mr. Jeyabal interacted with the students, during the interaction they raised the queries:

    1. What is the cause of kidney failure?
    2. Which organs can  be donated after heart beat stops?
    3. Which Tamil movies have used organ donation in their story?

    All the queries were answered by the transplant coordinators.
