A 5-day Organ Donation Awareness Campaign organised by Aam Aadmi Party in Nagpur

  • Mr. Sachin Lonkar, an Aam Aadmi Party member and in-charge of the Slum Sangathan, had organized a 5-day organ donation awareness campaign from 15th to 19th of June 2021, at Ekatmata Nagar in Nagpur for the residents of the locality to know more about the cause.

    A stall was set up and managed by Mr. Bulu Behera, Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation Nagpur, on all 5 days. Equipped with banners, brochures, pledge forms and donor cards, Mr. Behera also used a PowerPoint presentation to disseminate information about organ donation and transplantation.

    Difference between natural death, brain death and coma, need for organ donation, role of the various state and national authorities like the NOTTO and ZTCC, the organ donation process were some of the key points explained. The stall visitors were asked to download the organ donation app in their mobile phones, which gives all necessary information regarding organ donation and transplantation.

    Residents of the locality visited the stall in groups and had their questions about organ donation answered. The campaign was able to reach more than 200 people; around 100 collected pledge forms and close to 45 individuals filled the pledge forms and received donor cards, across the 5 days.

    MOHAN Foundation is thankful to the Aam Aadmi Party’s continued support to the cause and appreciates the party’s efforts.
