Mr. Pebam Deben Singh, a resident of Singjamei Pibiya Pandit Leikai, was employed with the Manipur State Power Distribution Company Limited (MSPDCL), IED-III, Singjamei, Manipur. He was a devoted husband and a proud father of one son and two daughters. A man of integrity, perseverance, and compassion, he was deeply respected by his family, colleagues, and the community. His dedication to his work and his willingness to support others in times of need left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
On the afternoon of February 2, 2026, Mr. Pebam Deben Singh sustained severe injuries in a road traffic accident while out for a walk at Kakwa, a few meters from his residence. He was immediately rushed to the emergency department of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute (SHRI) Pvt. Ltd., Langol, for treatment. Despite all medical efforts, his condition deteriorated, and he was declared brain-dead by the treating team on February 3, 2026.
The MOHAN Foundation team counselled Mr. Pebam Sana, the donor's only son, along with his two sisters. The family consented to the donation of their father's organs, a decision wholeheartedly supported by his wife, Smt. Puyam Pramo Devi, reflecting their shared commitment to saving lives even amidst profound personal loss. Mr. Sana shared that consenting to his father's organ donation was the most meaningful decision of his life.¯ He further expressed that the dignity and respect accorded to his father through this selfless act was the greatest honour he could receive as a son, and he pledged to carry forward his father's legacy by advocating organ donation to save lives.
Honouring the family's noble decision, consent was obtained for the retrieval of corneas, kidneys, and the liver, marking the first multi-organ donation in a medico-legal case in the North East. A solemn prayer was observed in the operation theatre by the retrieval team, and a walk of honour was organized by the staff and members of the public at SHRI Pvt. Ltd., Langol, as the donor was respectfully escorted for further procedures.
