On December 13, 2026, at around 6:30 a.m., Mr. Manish Jain, a resident of Uttam Nagar, Delhi, contacted Ms. Sanya Santosh, former Programme Officer at MOHAN Foundation (MF) NCR, seeking support for eye donation for his 58-year-old uncle, Mr. Praveen Kumar Jain. Ms. Sanya promptly shared the contact details of Ms. Simran Anand, Programme Officer at MF NCR, following which Mr. Manish connected with her.
Last year, the MF Delhi team had coordinated a cornea donation for one of Mr. Praveen Kumar's relatives. Inspired by this experience, Mr. Praveen Kumar discussed his wish with his family and expressed his willingness to donate his corneas.
Ms. Simran coordinated the case and collected all necessary details from the donor's family. Mr. Manish informed her that his uncle had recently been admitted to the hospital due to a lung-related illness and was discharged on January 9, 2026. However, after his discharge, Mr. Praveen continued to experience breathlessness and sadly passed away in the early hours of January 13, 2026.
During the conversation, Mr. Manish expressed the family's wish to honour Mr. Praveen Kumar's last desire by donating his eyes. Ms. Simran also counselled the family regarding skin donation, to which they willingly consented.
Following this, Ms. Simran coordinated with Dr. Shroff's Charity Eye Hospital for the eye donation and with The Skin Bank, Army R&R Hospital, for the skin donation. Both retrieval teams reached the residence and successfully retrieved the corneas and skin.
The donor family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to MOHAN Foundation for the timely guidance and smooth coordination, which enabled the successful donation of corneas and skin, giving hope and healing to many lives.
