  • Mr. Vijay  Kumar - 66 Years

    On the morning of October 13, 2025, Mr. Ashish Gupta, Organ Donation Ambassador for MOHAN Foundation (MF) in Delhi, informed Ms. Sanya Santosh, Programme Officer, MF NCR, that his 66-year-old brother-in-law, Mr. Vijay Kumar, had passed away at his residence due to cardiac arrest around 8:00 a.m. The family expressed their wish to fulfil Mr. Vijay's last desire to donate his skin and corneas.

    Mr. Vijay Kumar was remembered as a man of honesty, determination, and compassion. Beginning his career at a travel agency with a modest salary of Rs.700, he went on to build a successful business through dedication and hard work. Deeply respected among family and friends, he was known for keeping his word and helping others in times of need.

    The family's decision to donate stemmed from their prior association with the MOHAN Foundation. In October 2024, the MF NCR team had coordinated the skin donation of Mr. Vijay's father-in-law and later attended the family's prayer meeting, where Ms. Simran Anand, Programme Officer, NCR, spoke about the importance of organ donation. Inspired by her words, the family pledged to continue the legacy of giving.

    Honouring that commitment, Mr. Ashish Gupta promptly reached out to the Foundation following Mr. Vijay's demise. Recognizing the urgency, Ms. Sanya coordinated with Mr. Prem, Coordinator at ICARE Eye Bank, Noida, for cornea retrieval, and Mr. Vincent John, In-charge, Skin Bank, VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, for skin donation. Both teams arrived without delay and successfully retrieved the corneas and skin.

    Through this noble act, Mr. Vijay Kumar's corneas restored sight to two individuals via the ICARE Eye Hospital and Post Graduate Institute, Noida, while his skin donation brought healing and hope to burn and trauma patients through the Skin Bank at Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi. Follow-up coordination was handled by Ms. Simran Anand.

    MOHAN Foundation expresses its deepest gratitude to the Kumar family for their generosity and compassion in fulfilling Mr. Vijay's final wish, and to Mr. Ashish Gupta for his continued advocacy and unwavering dedication to organ and tissue donation. Their selfless decision stands as a shining example of integrity, empathy, and the enduring spirit of donation.

    The Foundation also acknowledges the exceptional efforts of the teams at ICARE Eye Bank and the Skin Bank at Safdarjung Hospital for their prompt and compassionate support in making this life-saving act possible. May Mr. Vijay Kumar's soul rest in peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire others to give the gift of life.
