Late Mr. Aniket Bansal was the lifeline of his mother and elder sister, the pride and joy of his family, and the heartbeat of every gathering with friends. A kind soul, he was always the first to step up and help - whether it was for his siblings, extended family, or close friends. His infectious laughter and bright smile lit up every room he entered. Aniket truly lived life with joy and positivity, leaving an unforgettable mark on everyone he met.
In the early hours of May 30, 2025, at 1:30 a.m., Mr. Ashish Gupta - Organ Donation Ambassador for MOHAN Foundation (MF) - reached out to Ms. Sanya Santosh, Programme Officer at MF Delhi NCR. Ashish had already championed tissue donation in his own family twice before, and now, with a heavy heart, he was seeking assistance for the cornea and skin donation of his beloved 28-year-old nephew, Mr. Aniket Bansal.
Aniket had collapsed suddenly at home, struck by a cardiac arrest. Despite being rushed to Aryan Hospital in Gurugram, he was declared dead late on the night of May 29. The shock and pain of losing him were overwhelming, but Ashish knew how much it would have meant to Aniket to keep giving - even after he was gone.
When Ashish reached out for help, he spoke of Aniket's generous heart and the warmth he shared with everyone around him. Aniket's sister Anshika didn't hesitate for a moment. She knew her brother would have wanted to bring light to others, even in death. With Ashish's gentle support and guidance from MOHAN Foundation, she made the decision to donate Aniket's corneas and skin.
Thanks to their courage and compassion, Aniket's corneas went on to restore sight to two individuals, through Dr. Shroff's Charity Eye Hospital in Daryaganj. His skin was also donated, offering renewed hope and healing to burn and trauma patients through the Skin Bank at Safdarjung Hospital.
MOHAN Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to Aniket's family for their selfless and inspiring decision in such a moment of grief. We are especially thankful to Anshika, who turned her heartbreak into an act of immense kindness, and to Ashish, whose unwavering support made this possible.
We also recognize the dedicated teams at Dr. Shroff's Eye Bank and the Skin Bank at Safdarjung Hospital for their prompt and sensitive efforts to honour this gift of life.
May Aniket's soul rest in peace. His story of laughter, love, and giving will forever remind us that even in the darkest moments, a single act of kindness can light the way for so many others.
