Webinar on Organ Donation held for Physiotherapy students on World Organ Donation Day

  • On 13th Aug 2021, Organ donation awareness program was conducted for Physiotherapy College, Nigdi Pune. Mr Jagdish Borude, Transplant coordinator, MOHAN foundation, along with Dr. Meshram (Principal Physiotherapy College) had organised the webinar on the occasion of World Organ Donation Day.

    Mr Jagdish held an awareness session and introduced MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision and philanthropy. He elaborated the importance of organ donation, Difference between cardiac death and brain death, organs to be donated after cardiac death and brain death, the time required for organ donation etc. The session was interactive.

    Mr Jagdish answered various questions of audience like what happened in brain death, which organs are retrieved after circulatory death and brain death. What is the ischemic time for various organs? Which tests conducted to confirm brain death? Why we need organ donation and current statistics in India as compared to globe. Dr Bhakti asked that which government organisations work in organ donation and transplantation field, Mr Jagdish gave information about ROTTO, SOTTO AND NOTTO.

    About 41 students attended the awareness session and 20 pledged online to become Organ Donor. We thank Dr. Meshram (Principal Physiotherapy College) and LSFPEF’s College of Physiotherapy for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
