On 3rd July 2026, Gabriel Pereira, Organ Donation Ambassador from the MOHAN Foundation, was invited by the Rotary Club of Panaji Riviera to attend the Installation Ceremony of the Interact Club at Old Goa Educational Institute, Ella, Goa.
The ceremony was organised by the Rotary Club of Panaji Riviera and witnessed the installation of the new Interact Club in the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including Ms. Nirmala Sawant, School Manager; Mr. Dattaram Shetkar, Principal of Old Goa Educational Institute; Rtn. Balchandra Amonkar, Chief Guest; Rtn. Colleen Sequeira, President, Rotary Club of Panaji Riviera; Rtn. Sonia Shirsat, Club President; Rtn. Sairaj Dhond, Youth Service Director; Rtn. Tanvi Sawant, Service Project Chair; and Tr. Glancy, Programme Coordinator of the school.
Following the installation ceremony, Gabriel Pereira addressed 40 students and introduced them to the concept of organ donation, highlighting its importance and the life-saving impact it can have on individuals awaiting transplants. Owing to time constraints, he presented only a brief overview of the subject.
Recognizing the enthusiasm of the students and the importance of creating awareness among young minds, Gabriel requested the Principal, Mr. Dattaram Shetkar, to invite the MOHAN Foundation for a dedicated awareness session for students of Classes VIII, IX, and X. He explained that a more comprehensive session would help students gain a deeper understanding of organ donation and inspire them to become ambassadors of the cause by spreading awareness within their families and the wider community. The Principal readily accepted the proposal and expressed his willingness to organise the programme.
At the conclusion of the awareness session, Gabriel thanked the management of Old Goa Educational Institute and the Rotary Club of Panaji Riviera for inviting the MOHAN Foundation to be a part of the Interact Club Installation Ceremony and for providing an opportunity to create awareness about the noble cause of organ donation among the students. He expressed confidence that such collaborations would go a long way in building a more informed and compassionate society.
