Villupuram Police In Service Training Centre hosts a training on Organ Donation

  • On 5th June  2015 MOHAN Foundation was invited to conduct a training programme for the Station House Officers of Villupuram and Cuddalore districts at the In Service Training Centre at Villupuram. The training was on Role of Police in Brain Death and Organ Donation. The aim of the programme was to make them understand the concept of organ donation and their role in it. The training was done in two sessions. 

    DSP Tr. Udhayakumar inaugurated and highlighted why this training program is important for them.

    Dr. Hemal Kanvinde Quality Assurance Manager MOHAN Foundation explained the Concept of Organ Donation, gave the statistics that Tamilnadu is leading in Organ donation. The Transplant Act, Rules, Tamil Nadu Government Orders and police circular were also explained followed by the protocol followed during a MLC Organ Donation. All these points were translated into Tamil by Ms. Gieetha, Transplant Coordinator.

    Ms. Gieetha shared few case studies highlighting the role of IO in the process of organ donation. Since none of the participants had heard of brain death, a documentary movie was played to explain Brain Death clearly.  

    There was a Q and A session. Most queries were about age factor, organ allocation, brain death, apnea test and eye donation.

    All the participants were ready to help out when they get a call about inquest for organ donation case. Vote of thanks was delivered by Tr.  Udhayakumar, he thanked MOHAN Foundation for the support in the programme.  110 police personnel participated in the training. Every one took the donor card.
