On the occasion of World Organ Donation day the Youth Red Cross club Sri Kanika Parameswari College for Women, Chennai initiated an awareness session for the students on August 13, 2024. Around 120 students gathered at a lecture hall to understand the Concept of Organ Donation. Dr Hemal Kanvinde, Quality Assurance Officer, MOHAN Foundation was the resource person for the event.
She started her session with a quick Q&A about tissue donation etc. Once the students got interested she spoke of the basic concepts of organ donation including brain death, law, who, when and why of organ donation. She also listed some of the myths about the cause and asked the students to speak about organ donation openly and freely among their peers and family members. She gave an example of a recipient and explained the process of registration. The event ended with a quiz on organ donation.
