Stall Set for Organ Donation Awareness at Government Medical College and Hospital, Nagpur

  • On 30th June 2019, MOHAN Foundation in collaboration with the Indian Society of Anesthesiology Nagpur branch set up a stall for organ donation awareness at the Indira Gandhi Government Medical College & Hospital, Nagpur. The programme was organized by Dr. Vaishali Shelgaonkar, the Head of the Department of Anesthesiology at IGGMC.

    Dr. Vibhavari Dani President, ZTCC and Former Dean, GMC, Nagpur; Mrs. Jaya Jairam, Project Manager MOHAN Foundation, Mumbai; Dr. Naresh Tirpude, Professor & Head of Department of Anesthesiology, GMC, Nagpur, Dr. Vaishali Shelgaonkar were the faculty present at the event.

    Mr. Bulu Behera and Mrs. Prarthana Dwivedi of MOHAN Foundation managed the stall which was equipped with brochures, donor cards and the Indian Transplant Newsletter, a publication by the Foundation.

    The stall visitors were given information about the following:

     

    • What is organ donation?
    • What is natural death and brain death?
    • Whom to contact for organ donation?
    • What are the legal aspects in organ donation?
    • What is time duration for organ donation?
    • After one’s death, who would be the right person to the sign consent form?
    • What are MOHAN Foundation’s activities?
    • How to get the donor card registration form online?
    • How to use the Foundation’s website and help-line number?

     

    Approximately 20 visitors visited the stall and about 6 of them signed the pledge forms and received their donor cards.
