Organ Donation Awareness at the Government Medical College, Nagpur

  • On 27th June 2019, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mrs. Chaya Jadhav, the OTG Nursing In-charge at the Government Medical College and Hospital, Nagpur. She introduced Mr. Bulu Behera, the Transplant Coordinator from MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur who was the speaker at the event. He gave information about organ donation and transplantation to the OTG doctors and nurses who were present.

    Mr. Behera’s talk covered the following topics:

    • What is organ donation?
    • Who can donate organs?
    • What is age limit for donating organs?
    • What is brain death and natural death?
    • What are the legal aspects of organ donation?
    • MOHAN Foundation’s activities and using the website and help line number.

     

    The following are a few questions asked by the participants:

     

    • What are the organ and tissues that can be donated in case of natural death and brain death?
    • What is the legal process for organ donation?
    • Who is the right person to sign consent form for organ donation following one’s death?

     

    There were 18 staff present and 10 of them signed consent form to pledge their organs. At the end of the session Mrs. Chaya Jadhav thanked MOHAN Foundation and the GMC Hospital OTG staff who attended the session.
