Rushi - the movie and organ donation campaign on Republic Day

  • Messrs. Prasad Productions, after a hiatus of almost 30 years has produced a Telugu commercial movie called "Rushi".  This movie is all about the travails of medicos and a child patient that receives heart transplantation.  As part of the movie's promotional campaign, the entire crew of Rushi decided to have an "Organ Donation Pledging Ceremony" on the evening of 26th January, 2012 on the first floor of Prasad IMAX theatres. More than 60 crew members of the movie and other visitors to the MOHAN Foundation stall pledged to donate organs.  Every crew member felt extremely happy that they did something really good on India's Republic Day.  Information about organ donation will be made available to all visitors of Prasad IMAX during the next couple of weeks. 

     

    Actress and Animal Rights Activist, Mrs. Amala Akkineni, Dr. Ravindranath, Chairman of Global Hospitals, Dr. A.G.K. Gokhale, Cardiothoracic and heart transplant surgeon at Global Hospitals along with Mr. Ramesh Prasad, Managing Director of Prasad Productions Pvt. Ltd were the eminent guests.  All the guests unanimously pledged to donate their organs, and urged everyone to be part of this noble cause.  Mr. Ramesh Prasad, in particular, mentioned that he would be very happy if the message of organ donation reaches the masses through this movie.

     

    Two families that donated their loved ones' organs in 2011 were felicitated. A young heart transplant recipient, Mr. Mohan Babu shared his experiences as a patient and thanked MOHAN Foundation and Dr. Gokhale for gifting him a new lease of life.  

     

    Mr. Raj Madiraju, Director of the movie along with Mr. Arvind Krishna, hero of the movie, spoke on the occasion, and expressed great interest in the cause of organ donation and promised all support.
