  • On September 29, 2025, a special TV news recording program was organized at KOK Tripura Channel to spread awareness on organ donation and transplantation in the state of Tripura. The initiative was part of ongoing efforts to sensitize the public and encourage greater participation in this humanitarian cause.

The recording featured interviews with key representatives from MOHAN Foundation, Tripura, including Mr. Vincent Debbarma (Project Lead), who conveyed the message in Kokborok, and Dr. Manirul Islam (Nodal Officer, State Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization – SOTTO, Tripura), who addressed viewers in Bengali. Both emphasized the critical importance of organ donation, with a special focus on understanding brain death and differentiating it from coma. They also explained the various organs and tissues that can be donated, such as the eyes, kidneys, liver, and heart.

The program outlined the step-by-step process of pledging for organ donation, highlighting the role of family consent and the importance of open discussions within households. Youth, volunteers, and community leaders were especially encouraged to take the lead in raising awareness and motivating individuals to register as donors.

In addition, the recording showcased MOHAN Foundation’s initiatives in Tripura, particularly its collaborations with Agartala Government Medical College & Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital (AGMC & GBP Hospital) to promote deceased organ donation in the state.

With KOK Tripura Channel’s extensive reach across both urban and rural areas, the program successfully carried the message of organ donation and transplantation to thousands of viewers. This broadcast marked a significant step toward fostering awareness, dispelling myths, and nurturing a culture of organ donation in Tripura.
