PRK Hospitals Celebrates World Organ Donation Day with Awareness Program at Chandanagar, Hyderabad

  • On August 13, 2025 – In observance of World Organ Donation Day, a comprehensive organ donation awareness program was successfully held at PRK Hospitals Private Limited.

    The session was led by Project Manager Mr. Venkatesh Kattela from the MOHAN Foundation and was attended by approximately 60 people, including medical professionals, hospital staff, and patients. The event was meticulously organized by Dr. Sai Sri Vardhan, the hospital’s COO, with Mr. Shravan, the Operations Manager, serving as the key coordinator.

    During the program, Mr. Venkatesh Kattela delivered a detailed presentation covering a range of topics, including:

    • What organ donation is
    • Different types of organ donation
    • The critical distinction between brain death and cardiac arrest
    • The significance of the donor card
    • The consent process for organ donation
    • Common myths and misconceptions
    • The urgent need for organ donation in society

    The participants engaged actively, asking thoughtful questions to clarify their doubts. Mr. Venkatesh Kattela provided clear instructions on how to pledge organs and register as a donor, and he shared inspiring stories of successful transplants. A key focus of the discussion was the significance of brain death declaration, with a special emphasis on the vital role of neurosurgeons in this process.

    The session also featured insightful speeches from medical professionals at the hospital. Dr. Srinivas Dussa (CTVS Surgeon) and Dr. Rajeshwari K. (Neurosurgeon), along with other doctors, spoke about the growing need for organ donation and its importance in saving lives.

    At the conclusion of the program, donor cards and brochures were distributed to all participants, allowing them to take immediate action. The event effectively raised strong awareness and encouraged a deeper commitment to the noble cause of organ donation among the hospital community.
