Organ donation seminar conducted at students of Vee Care College of Nursing in Chennai

  • Vee Care College of Nursing was established in the year 2011 by Veeras Trust with the vision of imparting standard Medical and Paramedical education at an affordable cost. MOHAN Foundation conducted a seminar on Concepts of Organ Donation to cover all the students (two batches of 90 and 75 each) of the college on Dec 1, 2022. Ms Arshiya Fathima H and Dr Hemal Kanvinde of MOHAN Foundation were the resources persons. The students were welcomed with a green ribbon and an information brochure.

    Mr Sadhu Kishore (Professor) introduced the speakers to the students and welcomed them. The sessions started with a short movie of the Gift of Life, followed by a talk on the Concepts of Organ Donation by Ms Arshiya. She gave information on what and when donation can happen, brain death, voluntary body donation, skin donation and about helpline 1800 103 7100.  She also explained about the misconception in society about organ donation and how to pledge and get a donor card. A film explaining brain death and certification was played at the end of the session.

    Dr. Hemal Kanvinde (Quality Assurance Officer) conducted  a quiz and a role play based activity: Hospital based scenario of deceased organ donation. The protocol in a hospital for a deceased donation was explained using this activity.

    The students eagerly waited to pledge and 35 students collected their donor cards. The session ended with the Vote of Thanks by Asst. Professor Mr. Prem Kumar J 

    MOHAN Foundation thanks the Dr. Vijaya Kumar S (Principal) and Dr. Malathy ( Professor) and other faculty  for giving this opportunity and organizing the seminar.
