On November 07, 2023 MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness talk at ICICI Academy For Skills, Ambattur. Around 60 students and 4 staff participated in the session. Ms. Arshiya Fathima. H (Helpline counsellor) of MOHAN Foundation was the resource person for the session. Ms. Anjum Shakina (Intern) distributed green ribbons and brochures to students.
Ms. Arshiya began the session with ice breaking activity. She explained the role of MOHAN Foundation followed by her talk on the Concepts of Organ Donation. She spoke of the need for organs, what and when donation can happen. She explained brain death, and the difference between brain death and coma. She spoke of tissue and voluntary body donation and also explained the myths & scams on organ donation. She also explained how a patient can register to get an organ. She also gave information on the free service of Organ Donation Helpline 1800 103 7100.
Then she played a quiz based on Tamil cinema to show how mass media can spread misinformation and negatively impact organ donation and students were given badges as prizes.
The talk concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session. 20 students were willing to become organ donors and picked up donor cards. MOHAN Foundation thanks ICICI Academy and team for support in organizing this awareness seminar.
