


On 26th August 2014, the Rotary Club of Chennai, one of the oldest clubs invited Dr. Sunil Shroff, Managing Trustee, MOHAN Foundation to be the Chief Guest and deliver a talk on organ donation. More than 100 members were present at the talk held in Taj Connemara.
Dr. Shroff thanked the Rotary Club for their invitation. He began by discussing the enormity of the need for organs. He likened it to more than a dozen tsunamis. He then spoke about the Basic concepts of deceased organ donation – brain death, causes, organs that can be donated, counseling, process and organ allocation. He requested the members to consider assisting donor families and recipients with training or jobs. He ended his talk with a heart touching poem of Robert Test.
At the end of this session there was discussion on organ allocation, costs of transplants and recovery of recipients after the surgery.
An information stall was set up and a few members picked donor cards.
