Organ and Eye Donation Awareness Session students at Eluvan Study Centre learn about Organ Donation

  • On 15th July 2026, an Organ and Cornea Donation Awareness Session was conducted at Eluvan Study Centre, Anna Nagar by MOHAN Foundation. Around 25 participants attended the session.

    Ms. Kanishka, Project Executive, MOHAN Foundation, commenced the session with an introduction to MOHAN Foundation and its activities. She also explained the importance of organ donation, the concept of brain death, and the need to create awareness about deceased organ donation.

    The Cornea donation awareness session was led by Ms. Janani B, Intern, who explained the importance of eye donation, the organ donation process, donor registration procedures, eligibility for donation, and the organs and tissues that can be donated after death.

    The participants actively engaged in the session and raised several queries regarding the organ donation process, donor registration, cornea donation, procedures followed after death, tissue donation, and the time frame for organ and tissue retrieval. Their questions were addressed, helping to clarify misconceptions and improve their understanding of organ and eye donation.

    Awareness brochures on organ and eye donation were distributed by Ms. Nivedha, Intern, MOHAN Foundation, to provide participants with additional information and encourage them to spread awareness among their families and communities.

    As an outcome of the session, 4 participants voluntarily pledged their support for eye and organ donation, reflecting the positive impact of the awareness programme.
