Organ Donation talk at Matru Sewa Sangh, Institue of Social Work, Bajaj Nagar, Nagpur

  • On 7th October, 2022 Mr. Bulu Behera transplant coordinator was invited by Mrs. Poonam Lohane, student of Matru Sewa Sangh, Institute of Social work, Bajaj Nagar, Nagpur.

    Mr. Bulu initiated the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision and kept the audience engaged throughout the session. The following contents were explained in detail

    • Concepts of organ and tissue donation,
    • The types of death i.e., cardiac death and brain death
    •  Brain Death and the procedure to declare Brain Death through Apnoea test
    •  Procedure of deceased organ donation and live organ donation.
    • Procedure of skin and bone donation.
    • Barriers in the process of organ donation
    • Myths and facts related to organ donation and its impact on the society
    • Importance of Donor card

    Mr. Bulu explained about the courses offered by MOHAN Foundation and motivated the students to pledge for organ donation

    Questions asked by students were as follows:

    • After completing the Transplant Coordinator course, what are the job opportunities?
    • What is grief counseling?
    • Process of organ transplant?

    Around 15 people attended this talk and 2 of them pledged their organs.
