Organ Donation awareness talk conducted at Law College, Nagpur

  On 8^th October 2022, Mr. Bulu Behera, transplant coordinator was invited by Dr. Preeti Agrakar, lecturer of Dr.Baba Saheb Ambedkar, law College to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation.

  Mr. Bulu addressed the gathering by asking a few introductory questions on Organ Donation and then introduced MOHAN Foundation to the participants and kept the audience engaged throughout the session. The following were discussed in detail:

  • Organ donation and its need in the society
  • When and how does organ donation take place
  • Organs that can be donated during life and after death
  • Transplant waiting list in India
  • Concept of Brain death and Circulatory death
  • Difference between brain death and coma
  • Eye and skin donation process

  Questions asked by the students were as follow

  • According to law, if a person is caught in illegal dealings of organs, what will be the punishment?
  • What is the process of organ transplant?
  • How to register for kidney transplant?

  Close to 25 students participated in this session and 10 of them pledged their organs. We thank the management of this college for organizing this session and supporting the cause of organ donation.
