Organ Donation Talk for SDKS Sanstha members at Dwarka, New Delhi

Updated on Monday, January 21, 2013
  • MOHAN Foundation’s team was invited to speak on "Organ Donation and Transplantation" by the members of "Sukh Dukh Ke Saathi" (SDKS) Sanstha on January 20, 2013 at Dwarka, New Delhi. The SDKS Sanstha is a secular and non-political association of enthusiastic and dedicated senior citizens devoted to various social activities. The main objective of the Sanstha is to create a positive environment for the senior citizens, protect them from the ghost of loneliness and feeling of neglect, encourage them to adopt a physically, mentally and socially active lifestyle and provide them fine moments of independence.  Creating awareness on Organ Donation amongst the members of the Sanstha and the general public is part of their action plan.

A free dental/eye check up camp was organized from 1000 - 1400 hrs on January 20, 2013. The MOHAN Foundation session was conducted alongside this camp.

The talk briefly concentrated on various concepts of organ donation namely, cardiac/brain death, organs/tissues that can be donated, eye donation, the law (THO act) and relevant contact numbers (toll free organ donation/eye donation and whole body donation) were also shared. The session was attended by 60 senior citizens who avidly listened to the talk and discussed their queries. Many of them complimented the MF team for presenting the talk in a simple and comprehensive manner and doing a noble cause by sensitizing the general public on this very important but underplayed out area. About 10 donor cards were distributed.
