During the novenas and feast of St. Francis Xavier, widely known as Goencho Saib, the patron saint of Goa, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, Organ Donation Ambassador, MOHAN Foundation, set up an organ donation information desk from November 25 to December 4, 2023.
More than 2,000 fliers containing frequently asked questions on organ donation were distributed by Mr. Gabriel to attendees of the basilica liturgy.
Every year on December 3, the Basilica of Bom Jesus in Old Goa celebrates this feast. Novenas are held for nine days before the feast, and pilgrims from all over the world attend. The streets are lined with vendors selling toys, clothes, and sweets during a large fair.
25 people pledged their organs upon death to support organ donation.
