  • On October 29, 2025, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, an Organ Donation Ambassador with MOHAN Foundation, set up an organ donation information desk at Wakao’s Blood Bonding Brunch in Panjim, Goa.

The blood donation camp was organised in association with the Indian Red Cross Society, Goa State Branch, and the Goa Medical College Blood Bank. The event was held from 10 AM to 1 PM at Hotel Manoshanti, Panjim. The initiative is part of the annual birthday celebration of Mr. Sairaj Dhond, Founder of Wakao Foods, India’s first brand producing sustainable plant-based products made from jackfruit. The Goa-based brand focuses on offering natural, eco-friendly products with a mission to support sustainable living.

At the information desk, Mr. Pereira engaged with attendees, explaining the process and importance of organ donation. He clarified that organ donation is possible only when a person is declared brain dead, provided the organs are medically suitable and family consent is obtained. He also spoke about body donation for medical research and the possibility of tissue donation in cases of circulatory death at home.

Informational flyers addressing frequently asked questions were distributed to all visitors, and four individuals signed up for donor cards during the event.

Approximately 60 people attended the blood donation camp and received valuable information on organ and body donation.
