



On December 19, 2011 MOHAN Foundation was invited by M.Phil scholars from Madras School of Social Work to do an awareness programme on Organ Donation for the NSS students at Soka Ikeda College for Women, Ambattur for an action research project as part of their curriculum.
The major objective of this action research project is to analyze the awareness on Organ Donation among the students before and after sensitization. This was tested by giving a pre and post awareness questionnaire to the students. The test result will be evaluated.
About 120 NSS students participated in the programme. Ms. Jessi, Transplant Coordinator spoke to the students about the concepts of Brain Death, Organ Donation, eye donation and THO Act.
The students who were from various background raised questions on how a post mortem is done, does organ donation cause disfigurement to the body and few queries on live organ donation.
At the end of the session 75 NSS students along with 6 M.Phil scholars from MSSW pledged for organ donation.
