Organ Donation Awareness for Students of Matru Sewa Sangh Institute of Social Work, Nagpur

  • On 25th November 2021, Ms. Poonam Nimje, Faculty of Matru Sewa Sangh institute of Social Work (MSSISW) in Bajaj Nagar, Nagpur invited Mr. Bulu Behera to give a talk on organ donation and transplantation at the institute. Mr. Behera is a Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur.

    He addressed the MSW 1st Semester and BSW 1st Semester students of the institute on the following topics:

    • What is organ donation and who can donate organs?
    • Age limit for organ donation
    • Difference between coma and brain death
    • Process of organ donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Difference between organs and tissues
    • Information about NOTTO, ROTTO, SOTTO and ZTCC
    • Importance of donor card in organ donation
    • Importance of the helpline number
    • THO Act 1994

    Approximately 80 students were present, and 18 of them signed consent form to donate organs. The others informed that after a discussion with their families, they would consider pledging. MOHAN Foundation is thankful to Ms. Nimje and MSSISW for the opportunity.
