Organ Donation Awareness for Students of Bangalore City College

  • Bangalore City College invited MOHAN Foundation to conduct an interactive awareness session for the undergraduate students in the college premises on 19th August 2019. The one-hour long session had 150 students and 8 faculty participating. The session was entirely interactive and activity-based, helping students learn about organ donation and transplantation.

    Mrs. Mariyathamma, the Principal of the College introduced MOHAN Foundation to the audience. Prof. Uma Maheswari, Head of Department - Social Work and Prof. Umesh Kumar, Assistant Professor - Department of Social Work were also present to show their support. MOHAN Foundation was represented by Mrs. Ranjini Shankar M S, Project Manager, Ms. Hemavathi, Transplant Coordinator, Ms. Krishna Priya, Transplant Coordinator and Mr. Susai Antony Raj S, Transplant Coordinator.

    Mr. Susai initiated the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation to the audience. He explained the functions of MOHAN Foundation and the role of transplant coordinators. Mrs. Ranjini carried forward the session explaining concepts of organ donation and brain stem death. She played a video explaining brain stem death and also explained about Jeevasarthakathe and legal procedures involved in organ donation and transplantation.
