On 23rd January 2014 an awareness session on Organ Donation was organized for the Police Personnel at Mappedu, Arakkonam.
The Police Department plays a vital role in Organ Donation process. Ms. Kavith. S, Marketing Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai addressed the Police personnel. She focused on the following topics - importance of organ donation; about live and deceased organ donation; about the difference between brain death, coma and cardiac death; organs that can be donated in cardiac death and brain death, MOHAN Foundation website, time line for Organ Donation and toll free help line, role of the police during the Organ Donation procedure.
One police officer had an earlier experience about organ donation and spoke about how he conducted the process. Nearly 6 Police personnel attended the session and all pledged to support Organ Donation. Toll free helpline sticker was stuck at the police station.
