On 23rd January 2014, a talk on Organ Donation was organized for the Share Auto and Private Auto drivers at Peranbakkam, Arakkonam. Auto drivers are the first to help an accident victim and they need to be sensitised about organ donation. 15 drivers participated in the awareness session.
Ms. Kavitha, Marketing Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Chennai addressed them. She focused on the following topics- importance of organ donation; about live and deceased organ donation; about the difference between brain death, coma and cardiac death; organs that can be donated in cardiac death and brain death, MOHAN Foundation website, time line for Organ Donation and toll free help line.
All the drivers agreed to publicise the toll free number in their vehicles. The Toll free Helpline stickers were stuck in all the autos.
