Organ Donation Awareness at a Law College

  • On 6th February 2020, the NSS unit of Dr. Ambedkar College of Law in Deeksha Bhoomi, Nagpur invited MOHAN Foundation to educate the NSS students about deceased organ donation. The NSS In-charge briefly introduced organ donation and Mr. Bulu Behera, the Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation to the audience.

    Mr. Bulu Behera gave information on the following subjects:

    • What is organ donation?
    • Whom to contact for organ donation?
    • The Transplantation of Human Organs Act 1994
    • What is natural death and brain death?
    • What is the eye donation process?
    • What is the body donation process?
    • Causes of brain death
    • Role of ZTCC in organ donation and transplantation
    • Activities of MOHAN Foundation, using its website and helpline number

    Questions asked by participants:

    • What is brain death?
    • What is the time duration for organ donation?
    • What is bone marrow?

    Around 60 students attended the session and 12 of them signed consent forms and took donor cards. At the end of the session NSS In-charge delivered the vote of thanks, thanking MOHAN Foundation as well as the participants.
