Organ Donation Awareness at Navanagar Cancer Hospital, Hubli

  • Mr. Sameer and Mr. Nachiket of the Living Donors Club invited MOHAN Foundation to conduct an awareness session on organ donation on 27th December 2020. Around 40 individuals attended the event.

    MOHAN Foundation was represented by Ms. Sheetal Mundada, Transplant Coordinator. 

    The following topics were discussed in detail: 

    • MOHAN Foundation and its activities
    • Brain Stem Death
    • Circulatory Death
    • Skin donation and skin banking
    • Jeevasarthakathe and its role
    • Organ allocation system in Karnataka
    • The burden of organ failure and the need for organ donation
    • Importance of a Donor Card

    The audience had the following questions:

    • How do hospitals ensure organ compatibility?
    • How are organs preserved, when being transported?
    • Green Corridor
    • Does my age/fitness level disqualify me from being a donor?
    • Distribution of the organs
    • Can diabetes patients be donors? 
    • Clarification on illegal activities heard about organ donation
    • Are commercial dealings of organs possible?
    • Can patients with communicable diseases be donors?
    • Can COVID positive patients donate blood?

    MOHAN Foundation is thankful to the Living Donors Club for organising the event.
