On November 24, 2025, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, Organ Donation Ambassador with the MOHAN Foundation, conducted an informative awareness session on organ donation for Class IX students of Mae Do Pobres High School, Nuvem, Goa.
Mr. Pereira began by introducing himself and the MOHAN Foundation. He engaged the students by asking what they already knew about organ donation and highlighted that, although they were too young to donate, they could play an important role by sharing accurate information with their families.
Through a PowerPoint presentation, he covered key topics, including:
1. Types of death
2. Organs and tissues that can be donated after circulatory death and brain stem death
3. Understanding brain stem death
4. How individuals can express their consent for organ donation
To deepen their understanding, he recommended the film Aye Zindagi (streaming on Zee5), which is based on the real-life story of Vinay, a software engineer with liver cirrhosis, and his journey with grief counselor Revathy Rajan. Her character is inspired by Lalitha Raghuram, Country Director, MOHAN Foundation, who, along with her family, made the courageous decision to donate her son’s organs.
Approximately 60 students attended the session.
Mr. Pereira concluded by thanking the Headmistress, Mrs. Mabel Vaz e D’Costa, for providing the opportunity to address the students on the vital theme: “Donate Organs, Save Lives.”
