MOHAN Foundation Conducts Organ Donation Awareness Talk at General and Medicine OPD

  • On November 24, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, in collaboration with the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat, Imphal East, Manipur, conducted an organ donation awareness talk at the Medicine OPD and General OPD of JNIMS as part of its ongoing public education and outreach initiatives.

     

    The session was led by Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Program Executive, along with Mr. Victor Rajkumar and Ms. Priya Moirangthem, Program Executives, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal. The programme was coordinated by Mr. Gailian Kamei, Transplant Coordinator, JNIMS.

     

    Mr. Bidyananda introduced the concept of organ donation and its life-saving potential. He explained the organs and tissues that can be donated, and clarified the difference between living and deceased donation. He also highlighted the ongoing cornea and kidney transplantation programmes in Manipur. In addition, he addressed common myths and misconceptions, and explained the distinction between circulatory death and brain death to help participants gain a clear and accurate understanding.

     

    He encouraged participants to pledge for organ donation and emphasised the importance of informing their family members after taking the pledge. Information pamphlets on organ donation were distributed to reinforce key points discussed during the session.

     

    The awareness programme saw active participation from nearly 150 individuals, all of whom gained meaningful insights into the significance and life-transforming impact of organ donation.
