Organ Donation Awareness Talk at a NCC Camp in Tirora

  • On 11th November 2021, Mr. Narendra Singh, NCC Officer invited MOHAN Foundation’s Transplant Coordinator Mr. Bulu Behera, to give a talk on organ donation. The talk was organized during the National Cadet Corps (NCC) camp organized at C J Patel College in Tirora district, Maharashtra.

    Mr. Bulu Behera addressed the NCC students as well as NCC officers present during the occasion. He gave information about the following topics in his talk:

    • What is organ donation and who can donate organs?
    • What is the difference between coma and brain death?
    • What is the difference between natural death and brain death?
    • Process of organ donation and age limit
    • Time factor in organ donation
    • Role of ZTCC in organ donation
    • Information about the Transplant Act 1994
    • Information about MOHAN Foundation
    • Importance of the donor card and helpline number

    Questions asked by the audience:

    • If a donor’s family consents to donate organs, could it be sold or donated to those in need?
    • Whom to contact for organ donation?
    • What organs can be donated by a living person?
    • What is bone marrow?

    Approximately 50 NCC students and officers were present and 12 of them signed consent forms to pledge their organs.
