  • On December 21, 2025, Gabriel Pereira, an organ donation ambassador from the MOHAN Foundation, delivered an awareness talk on organ donation to the parishioners of Our Lady of Victory Church in Revora, Goa.

Gabriel shared his personal connection to the cause, explaining that his journey as an advocate began after a family member received an organ transplant six years ago. He spoke about the various organs and tissues that can be donated and transplanted in Goa, and highlighted the licensed hospitals in the state where these procedures are carried out.

During the session, he explained key concepts such as brain stem death and the different types of organ donation. He clarified that in cases of circulatory death, only tissues and whole body donation are possible.

Gabriel informed the audience that kidney and corneal transplants are currently performed in Goa and provided details about the transplant hospitals in the region. He also shared that there are presently 83 patients on the transplant waiting list in the state.

To support awareness and understanding, approximately 300 informational flyers containing frequently asked questions on organ donation were distributed to the attendees. Gabriel emphasised the importance of communicating one’s decision to donate organs to family members, as family consent plays a crucial role in the donation process.

He requested the Parish Priest to circulate the presentation video via the parish WhatsApp group. The video included an animated short film by Shweta Gupta, a brain death explainer, and a film produced by ROTTO/SOTTO, Mumbai, to help parishioners gain a clearer understanding of organ donation.

Gabriel concluded the session by expressing his gratitude to Fr. Brayon Pinto, OFM Cap, the Parish Priest of Our Lady of Victory Church, for providing the MOHAN Foundation the opportunity to address this vital subject.
