Organ Donation Awareness Session held for Postman at the felicitation ceremony at Vivekanand Nagar, Nagpur

  • On 26th June 2021, MOHAN Foundation in association with Transplants – Help The Poor Foundation conducted an awareness session for Post man Silent Workers of the society during the felicitation ceremony at Vivekanand Nagar, Nagpur. The session was organized by Mr Ankush Shukla - PRO of JCI Nagpur and conducted by Ms Prarthana Dwivedi.

    She introduced MOHAN Foundation as an NGO working passionately for deceased organ donation past 23 years. She explained the difference between Cardiac Death and Brain Death in-depth. Then she elaborated about the organs & tissues that can be donated by both the cases. She also introduced the public about new advances like Hand Donation. She explained about tissue donation (skin, eyes & bones). She then discussed about Organ Donations that can happen in case of Brain Dead case and number of lives that can be saved by giving the examples of successful transplant stories articles and news about green corridor.

    Ms Prarthana discussed about Myths around Organ donation that most families of deceased donor have and how to debunk them by explaining relevant facts. Lastly Ms Prarthana described the importance of discussing about Organ Donation within the family and to carry Donor Card always in purse or wallet.

    About 38 people attended session and 12 took the pledge to be an Organ Donor. Informative flyers were also distributed to the public and gathering was invited for volunteering program. We thank Mr Ankush Shukla - PRO of JCI Nagpur for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
