An Organ Donation Awareness Session was organized on June 27, 2025, at Swarajya Police Academy – Batch 2 in Mumbai. The session was attended by around 60 participants, including police trainees and staff.
The session was conducted by Ms. Sakshi, who received an encouraging and positive response from both the students and faculty. She explained the difference between cardiac death and brain death, and discussed the types of donations — including solid organs and tissues such as eyes and skin — along with their respective timelines for transplantation.
Ms. Sakshi emphasized the important role police officers play in organ donation, especially in Medico-Legal Cases (MLC) and in facilitating Green Corridors for organ transport. The trainees showed great interest, and several thoughtful questions were raised during the session — one of which was about the fate of organs if they are found to be unfit for transplant after donation. Ms. Sakshi clarified that donated organs are thoroughly assessed, and while some may not be usable, the intention and registration to donate remain highly valuable.
She also provided clear guidance on the procedures for eye and skin donation, and explained how individuals can register to become donors, including online options and informing family members.
The session concluded with an atmosphere of curiosity and commitment from the participants.
Special thanks to Mr. Manish Yadav Sir and Mr. Vaibhav Dhanawde Sir for their continued support and for providing the opportunity to conduct this meaningful session.
