On September 25, 2025, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, Organ Donation Ambassador with the MOHAN Foundation, conducted an organ donation awareness session for staff members of the North Educational Zone, Mapusa, Goa.
The Directorate of Education administers three zonal offices in Goa: North, Central, and South.
The program commenced at 3 pm and was attended by approximately 40 staff members. Mr. Pereira began by introducing himself and explaining his motivation for becoming an organ donation ambassador, citing personal experience with kidney failure within his family and his participation in the MOHAN Foundation’s Gift Of Life course.
During the session, Mr. Pereira delivered a PowerPoint presentation addressing key topics, including organs and tissues eligible for donation following circulatory and brain stem death, the concept and medical definition of brain stem death, distinctions between coma and brain stem death, and the procedures involved in pledging to become an organ donor.
Additionally, he distributed a Frequently Asked Questions handout and emphasised the importance of communicating one's decision to donate with family members.

Mr. Pereira informed attendees about licensed transplant hospitals in Goa and detailed which organs and tissues are transplanted within the state. He also advised staff on road safety, specifically encouraging the correct usage of helmets.
