On November 1st, 2013 an awareness session on organ donation and transplantation was organized for the staff & social worker at Department of Ophthalmology, Pondicherry Institute of Medical Science (PIMS) hospital at Puducherry. The session was conducted by Mr. Ananth R, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation deputed to PIMS Hospital, Puducherry.
He covered the following topics:
Types of donors
Natural death, Brain death and Coma
Organs that can be donated,
Eye Donation,
Time limit for organ transplantation,
Importance of donor card,
Role of Transplant Coordinator,
MOHAN Foundation Activities and
Toll free helpline
There were a total of 2 nurses and one social worker who participated in the session. All of them picked up a donor card and brochure
