Organ Donation Awareness-Nursing Students,MMC on 16/11/11

  • The Transplant Coordinators of MOHAN Foundation organized a sensitization program on Organ Donation for the students of the College of Nursing, MMC. Around 100 final year nursing students attended the session. All the students were really inspired by the talk.

     

     

    Topics on which talk was given:

    • The Concepts of Organ Donation
    • When can a Person donate his/her Organs
    • Organ Donation Procedures
    • Donor Card
    • Organ Donation Statistics
    • Organ Allocation
    • Role of a Nurse in Transplant Coordination
    • How to Improve Eye Donation

     

     

    Questions raised by the students:

    • Which organ should be transplanted immediately?
    • What is the use of Donor Card?
    • Can a person who is HIV infected, donate his/her organs?
    • Can the organs be stored for more than one week and then be transplanted?

     

    The session ended with all the students pledging for Organ Donation.
