Marialaya (an NGO working for the rehabilitation of destitute women & street children) invited MOHAN Foundation to deliver a talk on Organ Donation for their SHG group members who are spread across Northern part of Chennai. A total of 85 women comprising different groups participated in this program.
A short film promoting the concept of Organ Donation was screened, followed by a presentation on concepts of organ donation, brain death, eye donation, whole body donation & transplantation, given by the Transplant Coordinator Mr. Prakash.
A lot of general queries were clarified by Mr. Prakash, who grasped the pulse of the audience with his impeccable speech. The session was interactive and participatory. One of the SHG member shared that her relative was declared brain dead in a private hospital last year and how the family took a decision to give life to others by donating the organs.
All SHG members pledged for a Donor Card and expressed their support. Sr. Arul Mary, Project Manager of Women Development, said that she was pleased and felt grateful to MOHAN Foundation for their service rendered to the society.
